Vorbemerkung: Leider haben wir die Hoffnung aufgegeben, dass dieser grauenhafte “Gaza-Krieg” es zulässt, dass wir in diesem Jahr noch Reisen nach Israel und Palästina (Westbank) organisieren könnten.

Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Tel Aviv – Drei-Städte-Reise

Es wird wohl auf der Welt kaum drei Städte geben, die so nah beieinander liegen – und die doch alle drei gänzlich unterschiedlich sind – in der geschichtlichen Entwicklung, in den Lebensbedingungen und in den Mentalitäten.
Die Städte Jerusalem und Bethlehem blicken auf eine Geschichte von Jahrtausenden zurück. Es ist eine Geschichte von Eroberungen, Zerstörungen, Neuerrichtungen und heftigen Kämpfen bis in die Gegenwart hinein.
Bethlehem – ist die größte palästinensische Gemeinde, Geburtsstadt Jesu Christi, Lebensraum arabischer Christen und einer wachsenden Zahl von Muslimen.
Jerusalem – ist für Touristen die Stadt der 3 größten monotheistischen Religionen: Sie ist Christen, Juden und Muslimen heilig. Bis heute ist ihr politischer Status umstritten, und das ist das größte Problem der Bewohner, denn es führt immer wieder zu heftigen Konflikten: Die Israelis sehen Jerusalem als »ungeteilte Hauptstadt« und als politisches Zentrum Israels an. Die Palästinenser fordern den Ost-Teil als Hauptstadt eines angestrebten Palästinenserstaates und haben formal-politisch die Verfügung über den Tempelberg.
Die Jerusalemer Altstadt ist nur 10 km von Bethlehem entfernt. Beide Städte sind durch eine hohe von den Israelis errichtete Sperrmauer getrennt, die von beiden Seiten nur in Ausnahmefällen überwunden werden, kann. Das heißt, die meisten Israelis und Palästinenser haben keinerlei persönlichen Kontakt – lediglich die kleine Gruppe von Palästinensern, die sich als Arbeitsmigranten in Israel verdingen und die arabischen Israelis, die meist auch palästinensischer Herkunft sind und in Israel aber weitgehend abgeschottet leben.
Tel Aviv – die “Weiße Stadt” (mit der Bauhausarchitektur – UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe), – erst vor hundert Jahren gegründet und in den sandigen Dünen des Meeres hochgezogen – bildet den Mittelpunkt der israelischen Wirtschaft. In der IT-Branche liegt Israel ganz weit mit vorn in der Welt. Tel Aviv ist eigentlich eine freizügige, quirlige und hippe Stadt, die sich wenig um religiöse, ethnische, sexuelle Orientierung und Politik schert. Eigentlich genießt man das Strandleben und die allgemeine Lust am Feiern. Heute, nach dem grauenhaften Massaker, kann sich allerdings wohl niemand den Konflikten gedanklich entziehen.
Durch den Besuch der drei Städte kann man sich einen Eindruck von den unterschiedlichen Verhältnissen verschaffen.
